Discovering Club Med Phuket

A Family Getaway by Rachael Albert

Over the Christmas break, my family and I had the pleasure of staying at Club Med Phuket, a destination that seamlessly blends relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion. Situated about an hour’s drive from Phuket Airport, this all-inclusive resort is just across the road from Kata Beach, making it an ideal location for families and travellers alike. With markets, shops, and restaurants right at the hotel entrance, it offers the perfect mix of resort comfort and local flavour.

Spacious Accommodation with a Unique Touch

As a family of four, we were allocated interconnecting rooms, with one featuring a king bed and the other two single beds. These were among the most comfortable beds and pillows we’ve ever experienced! While the resort is undergoing refurbishments, and some rooms remain older in style, ours were spacious, well-equipped, and had everything we needed.

A standout feature? Wristbands that double as room keys — no more searching for key cards!

All-Inclusive, Hassle-Free Experience

One of the best things about Club Med is that nearly everything is included in the price. During our stay, we didn’t spend a single cent at the resort. From delicious meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks) to unlimited drinks (including alcohol, with some top-shelf spirits as exceptions), everything was taken care of.

For families, there are dedicated Kids and Teens Clubs offering a plethora of activities, from trapeze and rock climbing to mocktail-making and arts & crafts. My 13-year-old daughter loved the Teens Club, making friends on the first day and spending most of her time there. My 10-year-old conquered her fear by trying the trapeze — a personal highlight! For my husband and I, seeing our kids so happy while enjoying some well-deserved relaxation was a luxury in itself.

Tips for Travellers

Request rooms near main facilities to minimise walking distances, especially for families.

Adults seeking peace should request rooms near the Zen Pool, a serene adults-only area with its own bar.

If you have dietary requirements, inform Club Med ahead of time. My daughter’s gluten-free diet was managed impeccably, thanks to the attentive staff and chefs.

Final Thoughts

While Club Med might seem more expensive compared to other luxury all-inclusive resorts in destinations like Thailand and Bali, the inclusions, exceptional service, and unique experiences make it worthwhile. The staff go above and beyond, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that feels like home.

We’re already planning our next Club Med adventure — perhaps Club Med Cancun! For now, Phuket holds a special place in our hearts.
