Experience the Rockies Like Never Before

One of North America’s most breathtaking rail journeys is about to become even more spectacular. The renowned Rockies to the Red Rocks route is being extended, offering travellers an enhanced experience through the stunning landscapes of Colorado and Utah. Beginning in April 2026, the route will continue beyond Moab, terminating in Salt Lake City, and will also be rebranded as Canyon Spirit.

A Journey Through Iconic Landscapes

Currently, the two-day train journey operated by Rocky Mountaineer takes passengers between Denver, Colorado, and Moab, Utah, with an overnight stay in Glenwood Springs. The newly extended route adds an extra day, incorporating an additional overnight stop in Moab before continuing on to Salt Lake City. This means more time to soak in the majestic red rock canyons, towering mountain ranges, and dramatic desert scenery that make this journey so unforgettable.

Canyon Spirit will continue to offer the exceptional service and luxury experience that Rocky Mountaineer is known for, with glass-dome coaches designed for optimal viewing, gourmet meals inspired by regional flavors, and engaging storytelling that brings the landscape to life. Along the way, passengers will travel through highlights such as Ruby Canyon, the Colorado River Valley, and the awe-inspiring mountain vistas of the Rockies.

A New Chapter for an Iconic Route

The transition from Rockies to the Red Rocks to Canyon Spirit represents a new chapter for this extraordinary rail journey. While the name may be changing, travellers can expect the same world-class hospitality and immersive experience. Guests will still enjoy the comfort of spacious seating, panoramic views, and carefully curated onboard service that makes every moment of the journey a delight.

The new extended route will commence operations from 21 April 2026, with weekly departures running both westbound from Denver and eastbound from Salt Lake City. Whether you’re a first-time visitor to the region or a seasoned explorer, this journey promises to be a truly unforgettable way to experience the American Southwest.
